Fast tests, honest limits
ReactionTest.net is an independent browser tool for practicing simple reaction tasks and understanding why a score changes. The site combines playable visual, audio, motorsport-style, aim, color, and consistency modes with practical guides about attention, hardware latency, and fair self-comparison.
What we are trying to improve
Most reaction-test pages show one number with little context. We provide repeated attempts, average, median, variation, local history, and clear device-latency warnings. Dedicated mode pages include the playable test so visitors do not have to move between an article and a separate tool.
How the tools are built
Timing uses the browser’s monotonic performance.now() clock. A randomized waiting period discourages anticipation, early input is rejected, and multiple valid attempts are summarized. Scores are stored locally in the visitor’s browser unless the visitor exports them. The current site does not require an account or send reaction results to a results database.
Browser, display, audio-output, operating-system, and input-device latency remain part of every result. That is why the site recommends comparing the same mode on the same hardware instead of treating a web result as a universal ranking.
Editorial and correction policy
Explanatory claims are reviewed against original research, standards, or official rules where practical. Source links are shown on the methodology page and beside science-related guides. We avoid invented population percentiles and remove claims that cannot be supported by a named dataset.
If you find a technical bug, unclear statement, translation issue, or outdated source, email contact@reactiontest.net with the page URL and the proposed correction. Material corrections are reviewed before the page’s modified date is updated.
Languages
The core site is available in English, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, French, and German. New editorial work is published in English first while the existing translated pages are maintained. A translation should preserve the same purpose and test behavior as its canonical counterpart; it should not exist only to create another indexable URL.
